In honor of the family of the late Blake Hendershot, Central Michigan Unviersity's Smash Club is hosting a tournament called "Charity Makes us Smash!" on Saturday.

The games played will be Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Project M in a singles and doubles tournament format. There will be an entry fee of $5 as well as a $5 venue fee. Proceeds from the tournament will be given to Child's Play Charity and Hendershot's family.

Hendershot, a former CMU Smash Club member, was found unresponsive on Aug. 13th. He was survived by his three-year-old son, Xander, who will be under the care of his mother.

According to the club's Facebook page, Hendershot was a member of Lansing’s as well as CMU's Smash For Wii U community who brought smiles to everyone he came in contact with. CMU Smash for Wii U Community will be making a donation to Blake’s son and Xander’s mother to help with any supporting costs for school, food and child care."

The event will take place at Pearce Hall, room 137 for Smash Bros. for Wii U and room 136 for Project M. Sign-up for tournament play starts at 10 a.m. The tournaments will start at 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 30th.
