Panel on the clean energy economy in Michigan to take place Oct. 24 in Anspach Hall

A panel discussing the economy in clean and renewable energy will take place from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24 in Anspach 161.

The event "The 21st Century 'Clean Energy' Economy: Crossing Boundaries", will be moderated by Tom Rohrer, director of Central Michigan University's Great Lakes Institute for Sustainable Systems. The panel will consist of Scott Hawken, director of project development at Apex Clean Energy; Liesl Clark, president of Michigan Energy Innovation Business Council; and Teresa Hatcher, director of renewable energy, at CMS Energy.  

Topics that will be discussed include the expansion of renewable energy and how it could benefit taxpayers and reduce electricity costs. Panelists will also talk about the expansion of renewable energy in Michigan and increasing the affordability of clean renewable energy. 

The event is sponsored by the College of Humanities and Social and Behavioral Sciences, Great Lakes Institute for Sustainable Systems and the School of Public Service and Global Citizenship. 

Light refreshments will be served.
