Central Michigan Division II hockey defeated Wright State 11-5 as two of its players got hat tricks.

On Saturday, Dec. 2 at the National Trail Parks and Recreation District Chiller arena in Springfield, Ohio, Forwards Kyle Bolger and Nolan Lefebvre both scored three goals in this game to help the Chippewas get the win.

“The team keeps putting shots on the net and that helped a lot,” said assistant coach Brittany Knopp.

This ended up being a huge win for CMU because this was their third win in a row to make their record 5-6. This is also the most points the team has scored this season with 11, and it is the only game where they had multiple players score hatricks.

Lefebvre scored six goals this weekend has he scored three in Fridays game as well as three in this game. Bolger scored only two goals this season before Saturdays performance when he scored three in one game.

CMU got the early lead in the game by scoring three goals in the first period and not allowing Wright State to score any. The first period had goals by Bolger, Lefebvre and the captain Kyle Chapman.

The Chippewas continued to dominate on offense throughout the rest of the game by scoring three goals in the second period and five goals in the third. Other players scoring in the game were C.J Meyers, Justin McComas, Nick Modas, and Trevor Hunter.

The Chippewas have a home and home series against Michigan State next weekend. The first game on Friday night will be played at the Suburban Ice Arena in Lansing and the Saturday game will be played at home at the Isabella Country Recreation ice arena.
