Multiple football players named to Academic All-MAC team

The Central Michigan football team had 13 players honored to the Academic All-MAC team, including two for the fourth time in their career – seniors Mark Chapman and Jeff Perry. 

In order to qualify for Academic All-Mid-American Conference team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 grade point average and have participated in 50 percent of games. 

Chapman, a wide receiver, owns a 3.37 GPA as a communications major. Perry, a linebacker, has a 3.51 GPA while majoring in mechanical engineering.  

Joe Ostman, a senior defensive end, made the squad for the third time. In the classroom, Ostman registered a 3.68 GPA as a general management major. On the field, he tallied a team-high 12 sacks. 

Those ineligible to qualify for honors include first-year students and first-year junior college transfers.
