Outfielder Jacob Crum hits the ball during the game against Northwestern at Theunissen Stadium on March 16.

Despite not recording a hit for the first six innings against Michigan State, a seventh inning two RBI single by junior Evan Kratt sealed the 3-1 victory for the Central Michigan baseball team.

Sophomore right-hander Cameron Brown got his first career start against MSU, pitching one inning and allowing no hits or runs. Freshman left-hander Brandon Reed, who was brought in for the ninth inning, picked up the win.

CMU finished with just two hits, with Kratt and junior Jacob Crum each contributing a hit.

Michigan State got on the board first after three and a half scoreless innings in the bottom of the fourth off a sacrifice bunt.

In the top of the fifth, CMU immediately responded back as sophomore Reed Adams scored off a wild pitch after two Chippewa batters walked.

Redshirt freshman right hander Cameron Miller was the most active of the six Chippewa pitchers that took the mound against the Spartans. Miller pitched three innings, allowing four hits, one run and struck out two batters.
