Central Michigan added another commit from Cass Technical High School in Detroit in Kyron McKinnie-Harper.

When Kyron McKinnie-Harper took his most recent visit to Central Michigan, he felt more comfortable than ever before. And on July 23, the Detroit Cass Technical 2019 three-star athlete committed to join the Chippewas.

"(Assistant) coach (Cory) Hall told me I was No. 1 on his cornerback board since Day 1," McKinnie-Harper said.

McKinnie-Harper picked coach John Bonamego's group over Ball State, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Eastern Michigan, Iowa State, Syracuse, Temple, Toledo, Washington State and Western Michigan. He was highly influenced by CMU safety Willie Reid, an old teammate from Cass Tech.

"He told me everything," McKinnie-Harper added. "I took his word and ran with it."

The 6-foot, 183 pounder is unsure of his official visit date but knows he will be back in Mount Pleasant for a barbecue on July 29. McKinnie-Harper is excited to meet with other recruits and talk to coaches about his recent commitment to CMU.

Looking past future visits, McKinnie-Harper is most excited to find himself on the field at Kelly/Shorts Stadium as a true freshman in 2019.

"I'm expecting to come in and compete," McKinnie-Harper said. "I'm not trying to sit, so I'll be working really hard to get on that field on Saturday."

In the meantime, the three-star prospect is in discussion with his family regarding becoming an early enrollee at Central Michigan.

"I'd get an early start on everybody else," he added. "It would be nice to have an easy transition to get familiar to CMU."

One of the reasons why McKinnie-Harper picked CMU was because of 2019 three-star safety Ormondell Dingle, who is a teammate of his at Cass Technical. Dingle gave his verbal commitment to the Chippewas on June 27.

"Everyday practice communication skills with Ormondell are on point," McKinnie-Harper said. "It'll be the same way at CMU. We have some other players who are going to commit in the next few days."
