Best-selling author to speak on campus Sept. 27
Jamie Ford is an American author who specializes in literary, historical, and speculative fiction.
Ford will be give a presentation titled “The Japanese Internment and the Lies We Tell Ourselves” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27 in Pearce Hall Room 127.
The presentation is sponsored by the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences’ Critical Engagements Initiative and the Office for Institutional Diversity and Inclusion’s King-Chávez-Parks Visiting Professors Program.
Ford’s first novel is "Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet," a historical fiction book set during World War II. The title was on the New York Times bestseller list for two years, and was the American Booksellers Association’s #1 Book Club pick in 2010.
The novel was adapted by Book-It Repertory Theatre and recently optioned for a stage musical and film, with George Takei as the Executive Producer.
Ford’s second novel, Songs of Willow Frost, was also a national bestseller.
The presentation is free and open to public, with a book signing to follow.
