People of all ages are invited to participate in the Glow in the Park 5k. The 5k, hosted by the city of Mount Pleasant's Department of Parks and Recreation, begins at 8:30 p.m. Sept. 14 at Island Park. The race runs through Island park, Nelson Park, across Broadway Street and down to Mill Pond Park before looping back to the finish line at Island Park.

This year, Glow in the Park has partnered with local radio station MY 1043 radio to put on “Diggin 4 Glow Dough” at 7:00 p.m. This event will give participants the chance to dig up cash and other prizes prior to the 5k.

To join this event, visit MY 1043's website to find a list of sign-up locations.

Regardless of if participants register for “Diggin 4 Glow Dough," each participant will receive a custom medal, a "goodie bag" and a t-shirt on the day of the event.

After the race, there are more activities to take advantage of, such as volleyball, ring-toss and cornhole. Along with games after the race, food and refreshments will be provided for participants. Registration is currently open and is available online until September 13th.

Registration before the day of the event is free for those six and under, $27 for those under 12 and $35 for 12 and older. However, registration is still open on the day of the event. Prices will go up that day to $32 for those under 12 and  $40 for those 12 and older.
