The weekend ahead: Events and entertainment in Mount Pleasant

This weekend's events take place in Mount Pleasant and the surrounding community. 

Thursday, Oct. 11

Mountain Town Rehab 5k: Mountain Town Rehab's eighth annual 5k benefits the Strickler Nonprofit Center. The race begins at Mountain Town Rehab and registration begins at 4:30 p.m. Registration costs $20 and a family discount is offered.

Yoga with Cats: Karma Kat Cafe hosts bi-weekly yoga followed by a half-hour of time in the cat lounge. The class begins at 7 p.m. Cost of class plus time with cats is $20 and management requests attendees show 15 minutes prior to class to sign a waiver. 

Friday, Oct. 12

Leadercast Women: Mid Michigan College will host Leadercast Women 2018 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The annual leadership conference features speakers from around the world and costs $70. Lunch will be provided. Tickets are available on Eventbrite.

Zombie Escape Room: The Zombie Escape Room at Mid Michigan College will be open from 7-10 p.m. Oct. 12 and 13. The escape room will be organized in Mid Michigan College's Morey Tech Building. Admission is $10 for adults. More information can be found on the event's website.

Saturday, Oct. 13

Maroon and Gold Concert Series: This Saturday's concert features Derek Winter Band. Performances take place two-and-a-half hours before kickoff in Tailgate Village. The Maroon and Gold Concert Series is free and open to the public.

Mid Market Craft and Vendor Fair: Mid Michigan College will host the Mid Market Craft and Vendor Fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Vendors include local artisans. For more information, contact Sarah Gariglio at sgariglio@midmich.edu or (989) 386-6667. 

Darren McCarty Slapstick Comedy Tour: The Canadian retired hockey player will host a comedy show featuring Michigan comedians at 7 p.m. at the Community Center in Weidman, Mich. Tickets cost $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Proceeds benefit community building and kitchen repairs. Tickets are available on Eventbrite. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Sunday, Oct. 14

Fall Colors Brewers Paddle: Hunter's Ale House will host a two-and-a-half fall colors trip down the Chippewa River. Beginning at 1 p.m. at Hunter's Ale House, admission cost will include the trip, transportation, a 22-ounce souvenir bottle, pizza, snacks and a cash bar. Admission is $40 and boats may be reserved at  (989) 772-5437.
