Larry Austin earns MAC West Division Player of the Week honors

For the second time in his career with the Central Michigan men's basketball program, Larry Austin Jr. is being honored by the Mid-American Conference. 

He has been named the MAC West Division Player of the Week. Austin helped guide the Chippewas (8-2) to a pair of wins over Youngstown State and Southern Utah last week. He averaged 22 points, 7.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists and four steals per game.

Austin was key to CMU's 100-94 victory in triple overtime over YSU on Dec. 4 with a game-high 24 points. He recorded a double-double by adding 11 rebounds in the effort with five assists, four steals and a block.

After a slow start in the first half on Dec. 8, Austin ended with 20 points and six assists in 35 minutes of CMU's 95-86 victory over the Thunderbirds. He also had four steals and rebounds.

Austin's first award of the season came on Nov. 19 after averaging 19.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game in the Junkanoo Jam. For the season, Austin currently ranks second in the MAC at 19.6 points per contest.
