Albany, Minnesota senior Sara Kellner and Muskegon junior Dylan Goetz have been selected as the Summer and Fall 2019 semester editor-in-chiefs of Central Michigan Life.

The Central Michigan University Board of Student Publications selected the two students for their positions at its semesterly meeting last week.

Director of Student Publications Dave Clark said the largest event covered by CM Life in the summer is Special Olympic’s State Summer Games, which occur May 30-June 1.

Kellner expressed her excitement to get to know the athletes and their families. She also said she would like to discover more about the collaboration between CMU and Special Olympics Michigan.

Kellner has spent two years at CM Life. She started as a staff reporter in Fall 2017 and served as university editor in Fall 2018.

“I love covering the university, but I am excited to get out into the community and learn more about the place I have lived for three years,” Kellner said.

Goetz has spent three years at CM Life while studying journalism at CMU. He started his freshman year as a staff reporter and spent the current spring semester as community editor.

The Muskegon native will not start his stint as editor-in-chief of CM Life until the Fall 2019 semester, which will begin the publication's 100th year. Goetz said he is excited to begin.

"This is a position I have looked up to since I started as a freshman at Central Michigan Life,” Goetz said. “I hope to hold CM Life to a high standard and make CM Life essential to CMU and Mount Pleasant.”
