Scares will be offered to Mount Pleasant area residents when A Haunting on McDonald opens for the first time on Friday, Oct. 18.

Haunting on McDonald is a haunted yard that will first open to the public at 6 p.m. at 2116 McDonald Drive, Mount Pleasant. The yard will feature animatronics, custom props and jump scares, said Taylor Baumann, the creator of the haunted yard. He also said that he is still looking for volunteers to be jump scarers.

The yard is free to walk through, but Baumann said donations are appreciated. It will be open various times between Oct. 18-20 and Oct. 25-31. Among these hours are “timid hours,” which he said are for younger children who don’t want to be jump scared. This means that jump scarers won’t be active during these times. A full schedule can be found on the yard’s Facebook page.

Baumann said he wanted to do this because he’s been into decorating for Halloween since he was a kid. He also recently moved to Mount Pleasant and feels the community will be more responsive to a project like the haunted yard.
