Rosmarie Tissi is a 83 year-old Swiss graphic designer who is still practicing her craft.

The Central Michigan University Art Gallery will have an exhibition of Tissi's work from Wednesday, Oct. 16 to Saturday, Nov. 16.

"Students should attend the exhibition to see 61 years of work by this acclaimed Swiss Graphic Designer," said University Art Gallery Director Anne Gochenour.

There will be a reception to kick off the exhibition from 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16 in the University Art Gallery Main Gallery.

Phillip Niemeyer, the exhibition curator, will be giving a lecture about Tissi and her work at 5 p.m. during the reception. Attendees will also have the opportunity to speak with Niemeyer.

"The cool thing is that Rosmarie Tissi is a prominent designer and gained prominence at a time when women were not very common in the field – think 'Mad Men,'" Gochenour said.

The exhibition is sponsored by the department of art and design.

"I chose the exhibition because of the importance of graphic design in the department of art and design and in our culture in general," Gochenour said. "I also wanted to emphasize women in graphic design."

The reception and exhibition are free and open to the public.
