Streets downtown closing for Christmas Celebration

Downtown Mount Pleasant will be subject to street closures this weekend due to the Christmas Celebration.

Streets will be closed on the evening of Friday, Dec. 6 and throughout Saturday, Dec. 7. Director of Public Relations Darcy Orlik said this is done in preparation for the celebration and lighted parade.

Here are the following times when streets will be closed each day:

Friday, Dec. 6:

· 3 – 9 p.m. - Main Street will be closed north of the Broadway Street intersection to parking lot #2 (Jockey Alley) for the Christmas Tree Lighting and Sing-Along. 

Saturday, Dec. 7:

· 6:30 a.m. – 10 p.m. - Broadway Street will be closed from Court Street to Main Street for the 5K and 5 Mile Run.

· Noon – 8 p.m. - Main Street between Illinois and Mosher. Broadway Street between Main and Lansing for the Lighted Parade. 

· 4 – 8 p.m. - Main Street from Cherry to Illinois for the Lighted Parade.

Any cars left on the street will be subject to towing, Orlik said. She also advises people to stay on the sidewalk during the parade for safety reasons.
