For the fourth straight week, Central Michigan guard Micaela Kelly has been named the Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week.

The junior from Detroit led the Chippewas to a 1-1 record for the week with a 64-58 loss to Central Florida followed by a win in the conference opener against Akron, 77-72.

Kelly had 26 points and five rebounds to go along with a 6-of-10 night from 3-point range in the loss to the Golden Knights.

In the victory over the Zips, Kelly scored 31 points and seven rebounds and had a tremendous night from the free throw line finishing 13-of-14 on the night.

So far this season, Kelly is averaging 24.3 points per game, good enough for first in the MAC and she ranks No. 2 in the NCAA in scoring. Kelly is taking an early lead in the race for MAC Player of the Year and shows up in many lists of the best mid-major players in the country.

Kelly and the Chippewas, who are 8-4 overall and 1-0 in MAC play, continue the conference slate with two games in the next week. The first is Wednesday on the road against Ohio and then Saturday, CMU will play its first home conference game against Miami (Ohio).
