CMU announces search for senior vice provost of academic affairs

After two years of Ian Davison, former College of Science and Engineering dean, serving as the senior vice provost for academic affairs on an interim basis, Central Michigan University has announced a nationwide search to fill the position.

Vice President and Provost Mary Schutten announced the search in a University Communications press release Jan. 24.

"The Senior Vice Provost for Academic Affairs oversees accreditation, assessment, curriculum, honors programming and student support systems in the Provost’s office," Ari Harris, assistant director of University Communications, said.

The administration hopes to have the position filled by July 1 since Davison's interim expires in June, Harris said.

The search committee will be assisted by Greenwood/Asher & Associates with Tom Masterson, dean of The Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow College of Health Professions, serving as the committee chair.

The committee members are:

  • Misty Bennett, faculty, management.
  • Cali Clark, director, employment and compensation, human resources.
  • Jennifer Evanuik, executive director, Office of Global Engagement.
  • Jon Humiston, executive assistant to the provost.
  • Deric Learman, faculty, biology.
  • Josh Smith, faculty, philosophy and religion.
  • Tina Thompson, senior associate dean of academic affairs, College of Medicine.
  • Elizabeth VanDeusen, faculty, teacher education and professional development.
  • Kirsten Weber, faculty, communication.
  • Mike Carson, director, curriculum and assessment.
