A suspect was caught after $140 worth of textbooks were stolen from the Central Michigan University Bookstore on Thursday afternoon, according to university police.

Police said the retail-fraud incident took place around 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, in Bovee University Center, 103 E. Preston Road.

An 18-year-old woman was caught on camera leaving the bookstore with the stolen textbooks. Officers from CMUPD were able to quickly identify the woman because she paid for one other item with a credit card.

The same day, officers confronted the woman. Police said she cooperated and gave back the stolen items.

The woman was charged with a misdemeanor and is to appear in court on Feb. 11.
