Central Michigan University will provide students with "proportional and appropriate refunds" for room and board, according to an email from University Communications.

As the university recommended, many CMU students are staying at their permanent residences during the coronavirus pandemic with the switch to online only classes. Students and parents have shared their concern about the money being lost in the room and board fees.

The email states that the university is discussing and researching the concerns of students and have a student-centered approach.

"We are gathering data and monitoring the coronavirus situation as it unfolds," University Communications said in the email. "We look forward to sharing updates as we develop the process and timeline for refunds."
