Many local restaurants offering delivery and pick-up options amid coronavirus pandemic

Due to the coronavirus and a March 16 executive order issued by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, all bars and restaurants are effectively closed to dine-in business.

The executive order was put into place to slow down the spread of COVID-19 and affects restaurants, gyms and movie theaters among others. Grocery stores and markets are still open.

To avoid putting people out of work, and leaving residents without food options, many restaurants in Mount Pleasant are offering carryout and delivery options.

The Mount Pleasant Area Convention & Visitors Bureau encourages people to continue supporting businesses so they can stay open. People can do this by taking advantage of delivery apps such as DoorDash offering no delivery fees and purchasing gift cards now that can be used after the ban is lifted.

“We’re trying to get the word out that Easter is coming," said Jamie Pierson, office manager of Mount Pleasant Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. "You can go buy Easter gift cards or gift certificates from these local businesses for Easter just to help them out for right now.”

The Mount Pleasant Area Convention & Visitors Bureau released a list of local restaurants that are still open as of March 18. The CVB will continue to update its website about which businesses are open and when each business plans to reopen its doors.
