Rants & Raves

Rants and Raves out of an idiot's mouth on this Wednesday morning:

Looks like we have to hear about the "Flintstones" for another week. I can't even watch the damn cartoon without getting physically ill. Michigan State proved a lot of people wrong, including myself, who thought it was overrated and would not get to the Final Four.

It is just unfortunate that the drunks in East Lansing will no longer have a reason to celebrate after Saturday, for there is no way it can beat Duke.

After watching the NCAA tournament over the last few weeks I have noticed that there has been a substantial drop in the talent level over the last few years. The amount of players skipping over college and going right to the NBA has taken a toll on the game. The college game has only a few stars and 90 percent of them are on Duke.

My prediction as if I have any knowledge, is that Duke and Connecticut will meet in the final, with Duke winning 82-76.

Speaking of stars in the college game I do not believe Mateen Cleaves is one of them. He is a good passer and team leader, but until he develops a shot or learns to pass up a shot, he cannot be considered among the elite.

Contrary to popular belief the whooping crane is in no way responsible for the whooping cough. Excuse this rapid change of topics but I feel this species has been unfairly stereotyped for too many years.

Some idiotic NFL owners would like to move the Thanksgiving game out of Detroit and Dallas. They propose that the game be rotated among all teams.

Detroit and Dallas started the tradition and should be allowed to continue it. A simple solution would be to add a night game on Thanksgiving and rotate that among all the teams. Who would not enjoy an extra game to watch after awakening from their food coma?

It is sad to see Ahmad Rashad so lost as the sideline reporter for NBC's NBA Game of the Week. Since Jordan retired, Rashad does not know whose butt he is supposed to kiss.

Does anyone care about Scott Mitchell being traded? Let's see how good he can play without Sanders in the backfield and Moore going deep.

Remember those Kudos Bars that would provide a tasty snack in our youth?

I have not indulged my Kudos needs for years. In my perfect world they would be used for currency.

Just so I do not neglect the women's NCAA Tournament let me mention that Tennessee lost to Duke which knocked the three- time defending champs out of the tournament.

How inconsistent are the Detroit Pistons? After a big win against the Jazz they drop a contest to the Bucks by 29 points. Now granted the Bucks are team on the rise but that is no excuse. I mean it is not like the Bucks still have stars like Jack Sikma and Fred Roberts.

The Pistons have a shooting guard of the future, Jerry Stackhouse, who cannot shoot. They have a high paid big man, Bison Dele, whose name change cannot hide the fact that he is soft and weak.

Lastly Detroit's two most consistent players, Grant Hill and Joe Dumars, can either opt out of their contract next year in Hill's case or plan to retire after this year in the case of Dumars. The organization is in disarray and is still trying to recover from the Doug Collins regime.

Maybe it should go out and get a power forward since it only has about six of them.
