Host of local bands play shows this weekend

This weekend Mount Pleasant offers a variety of live musical tastes to whet your nightlife entertainment palette.
Friday and Saturday, Rubbles will feature house-band The Essentials covering classic rock and modern rock standard hits by well-known artists.
Rubbles' 18 and older shows start approximately around 10:30 p.m. and require a small cover charge.
The Bird Bar & Grille, 223 S. Main St., will feature two bands this weekend. The groovy blues-rock band Crosstown Mojo will play Friday night. Many may recognize the group due to drummer Sara Potter, Mount Morris senior and former Riley Cat Blues Tribe member, and also because they play their original and cover tunes regularly Wednesday nights at The Blackstone bar, 212 W. Michigan.
Saturday night at The Bird, the Cajun-style band Deux Blue will perform. The 18 and older shows run from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. and require a small cover charge.
Boomers, 5665 E. Pickard, will host acoustic guitarist Chris Delgado this Friday night as he performs popular standards and even takes requests.
Also of note this weekend at the CMU vs. Miami game at the Kelly/Shorts Stadium, tailgating festivities will feature a new diversion to every one's fun. Now, tailgaters can imbibe the sounds of live music as The Young Church Band, which consists of three CMU students, play their mix of mellow, radio-friendly modern pop rock. This free show will begin at approximately 10:30 a.m. at the northside of the grassy island area near the pond by the tailgating activities.
