Be safe

Just because the Central/Western game is on a Tuesday, it doesn't mean it will be any less crazy.

Many CMU students will make the trip down to Kalamazoo on Tuesday.

And when they get there, they are going to want to party. It happens at football games.

If you do go, be safe.

The danger of this game being on a weekday is students will rush back to Mount Pleasant to barely make their Wednesday classes. If you don't have a designated driver, stay the night at Western. It's not worth the risk, no class is worth a student's life.

If you must get back to Mount Pleasant on Tuesday night, find your DD well beforehand. This is obvious advice, but so many fail to follow it. Don't make the same mistake others have made.

The best of all worlds is if you can catch a ride on the bus the university is sponsoring. It costs $20 and the last day to sign up is today at the CMU Athletic Ticket Office in Rose Arena.

Tuesday's game has huge implications. If CMU wins, it will secure its second consecutive Mid-American Conference West Division title. It will also be the second consecutive time the clincher came against Western.

This also is a rivalry game. And with a rivalry comes trash-talking.

Trash-talking is fine, just as long as it is done in good humor. If your counterparts from Western lack class, ignore it.

Show that Central students have class. Remember everyone who dons maroon and gold attire represents Central Michigan.

One bad experience can ruin a school's image. Remember that.

The most important thing for CMU fans is a CMU victory. The second most important thing is to have fun and be safe.

The Central/Western rivalry between the fans has been a clean one the last few years. Let's keep it that way.
