Go with Bonaguro

John Bonaguro has a great vision for Central Michigan University's College of Health Professions and has the experience necessary to lead it.

That is why we feel the dean of the College of Health and Human Services at Western Kentucky University is the right choice to lead the college.

With the recent approval of the CMU medical school, the college needs a leader who can incorporate that and improve the use of the Health Professions Building, where potential is not yet maximized.

Bonaguro has held his current post at WKU since 2003, one that is fairly similar to the job opening at CMU. During his open forum Nov. 18, he explained his commitment to a "state-of-the-art" program and incorporating digital measures to the college's curriculum.

The college needs a person with innovative ideas and the understanding of technology in today's world. It needs a person who can help pass those ideas down to students and make sure they are well-prepared once they graduate from the college.

We feel Bonaguro can accomplish those things.

For example, establishing a telehealth program, something CMU has had trouble with over the years, is one initiative that Bonaguro can advance.

He admitted that adopting a medical school comes with its challenges, and he seems like the right choice to compete for the resources it needs to survive.

This is not to say that the other two candidates for the post are unqualified. But we feel Bonaguro has what it takes to move the College of Health Professions forward and not just talk the talk.

Not only does he bring the necessary experience, he also brings the necessary ideas for the program to continue improving over the years.
