Fans rose to their feet Saturday as junior forward Matt Lamore went one-on-one with Ferris State goaltender Kevin Delamarter during an overtime breakaway.

Lamore wristed a quick snapshot that beat Delamarter's glove, which sent CMU's bench and crowd into pandemonium and gave the team a 6-5 win.

"My eyes just lit up," Lamore said, of the puck bouncing up the boards toward the FSU zone. "All forwards love a breakaway like that, especially in overtime."

Central lost 7-1 Friday night at Ferris State. Central was down 7-0 for most of the game before scoring its only goal in the third period. The team is hoping Saturday's win is enough to get it into the tournament.

"Hopefully we get picked, at least in the 10-spot or the nine-spot," said freshman goalie Willie Mistretta. Mistretta had 37 saves Saturday.

Central took the lead in the first five minutes of the game on a turnover behind the FSU net. Sophomore forward Nick Badder set up freshman Dominic Braganini.

FSU tied the game two minutes later on a goal by forward Jeff Baysarowich - one of his five points. Baysarowich socred three of of those in the first period. Baysarowich scored about two minutes later to take a first-period lead. Junior forward Ian Carlson scored with five minutes remaining to tie the game.

But Central (15-16) trailed 3-2 after the first period after forward Nolan Stempin scored a power- play goal with less than 40 seconds remaining.

FSU (11-15-2) expanded its lead on a second period goal by forward Chris Small.

Badder scored the next three goals for a natural hat trick and gave CMU its second lead of the game halfway through the third period.

He scored five points Saturday.

With just more than one minute remaining in the third period, FSU center Jonathon Juliano tied the score and sent the game into overtime. Lamore scored the overtime winner with 1:35 remaining.
