CMU football 29th in Coaches' Poll, 31st in AP Top 25


The CMU football team is inching closer to its first-ever berth in both the USA Today Coaches' Poll and Associated Press Top 25.

The Chippewas earned 34 votes in the Coaches' Poll on Sunday, ranking No. 29 in the country. They are behind No. 25 Mississippi (114 votes), Oklahoma (113), South Florida (104) and Nebraska (84).

CMU also earned 39 votes in the AP Top 25 on Sunday after winning its sixth consecutive game Saturday, a 34-23 victory over rival Western Michigan.

Oklahoma is No. 25 in that poll with 117 votes. Notre Dame has 61 votes, Mississippi 59, South Florida 57, Nebraska 52 and Michigan 41.
