BREAKING: Granholm appoints three new members to Board of Trustees, one to begin immediately

Gov. Jennifer Granholm has appointed three new members to the Central Michigan University Board of Trustees.

Two of the appointees—Ronald C. Edmonds, vice president and controller of The Dow Chemical Co., and Kevin F. Kelley, director of senior and veterans services for Wayne County— will succeed Trustees Gail Torreano and Chairwoman Stephanie Comai, whose terms will expire in December.

Trustee Jacqueline Garrett has resigned. Granholm appointed Robert F. Wardrop II, president and attorney with Wardrop & Wardrop P.C. in Grand Rapids, to take her place. He will serve until Dec. 31, 2014.

Edmonds and Kelley will begin their terms on Jan. 1, 2011. Wardrop will begin immediately, Comai said. She said Granholm's office alerted the board Wednesday of the appointments.

"We certainly will contact (Wardrop) and invite him to the next meeting and all the subsequent meetings as well," she said.

Edmond’s and Kelley’s terms will expire on Dec. 31, 2018. Wardrop will fill the remaining years of Garrett's term, until Dec. 31, 2014.
