Board of Trustees goes over room and board, graduate student tuition

A full table of Trustees made several decisions pertaining to the 2010-11 school year.

All Trustees attended the Board of Trustees meeting today, raising graduate student tuition from $434 to $456 and from $508 to $525 for doctoral students from Michigan as well as raising room and board rates to over $8,000 an academic year with an unlimited meal plan.

With the unlimited meal plan, residents will  pay $8,092 next year, compared to $7,896 last year.

There was also an increase with ProfEd tuition. For undergraduate and graduate students there is a 3 percent increase starting in fall. Undergraduates will pay $348 a credit hour, a $10 a credit hour increase from this year. Graduates will see a $13 increase, from $446 this year to $459 next year.

Trustees also approved adopting MeritMail as Central Michigan University's new e-mail for next fall. Roger Rehm, vice president for Information Technology and chief information officer, said this system will provide CMU with one system for students, faculty and staff and will increase storage for e-mails.

The cost for MeritMail is not to exceed $300,000. See Friday's print edition of CM Life for extensive coverage from the Board of Trustees meeting. Also stay updated to cm-life.com for more.
