Jarod Trice named MAC Wrestler of the Week
Coming off an impressive performance at the Midlands Championships, CMU heavyweight Jarod Trice was named Mid-American Conference Wrestler of the Week on Wednesday.
Trice, a junior from Highland Park High School, finished runner up in the heavyweight division on Thursday at Midlands in Evanston, Ill. As the No. 6 seed, he won five consecutive matches in the two-day tournament - beating the No. 2 and 3 seeds - before losing 2-1 to top-seed Zach Rey (Lehigh) in the finals.
Trice is 13-3 on the season, with two of the losses coming against Rey. This is the first time in his career he's won the award.
The Chippewas start the MAC schedule against Northern Illinois at 7:05 p.m. Thursday in DeKalb, Ill.
