Remus Road or M20 was shut down between Lincoln Street and Bradley Street due to a gas leak March 24 outside Isabella County Road Commission.

Just before 11 a.m., the Mount Pleasant Fire Department responded to a call for a gas leak on M-20 between Lincoln and Bradley streets.

The road was closed until 2 p.m.

The leak started when workers from Consumers Energy were in the process of installing a new pole next to the existing one, and came in contact with a gas line.

MPFD worked to monitor the site for traces of natural gas and evacuated nearby homes and businesses as needed.

DTE was able to crimp the gas line shut and is now in the process of repairing the damage.

No one was injured.
