The Earth Week Committee will be putting on 10 events celebrating Earth Day starting April 20.

This will be the fourth year the committee has participated in Earth Week by hosting events and spreading an environmentally-friendly message. The week-long effort is headed by Garden City senior Alayna Smith.

"I think it's important for students to know a lot about Earth Week. Environmental issues don't always get the kind of attention they deserve," Smith said. "Environmental issues impact everyone's lives whether they like it or not."

The student organization met multiple times to plan, prepare and prep for a week of events.

"The committee has been meeting since the beginning of the semester," Smith said. "We've all put in a lot of time and a lot of effort to really make sure that these events are as fantastic as possible."

The events will feature events such as making T-shirts, a park clean up, the annual Earth Day garden party and guest speakers.

"I think everyday should be Earth Day, it shouldn't be limited to just a week," said Clinton sophomore Alyse Solomon. "Everyone should be aware of their eco-activity."
