CMUPD releases annual safety report


In 2014, nine reports of rape were made to the Central Michigan University Police Department. 

According to the annual Security and Fire Safety Report put together by CMUPD, this is more than 2013, which had eight reports of rape. The annual report came out Sept. 28. 

Seven of the sexual assaults reported occurred in residence halls. One report of rape was off-campus. 

Four reports of on-campus folding were made. On campus there were four reports of domestic violence and three reports of dating violence. One report of dating violence was made off campus. There were six reports of on-campus stalking, compared to two in 2013. 

Police wrote citations for 473 liquor law violations on Central Michigan University's campus.his is more students than were cited in 2013, at 333. 

A total of 125 students were referred to residence hall directors for drug law violations, more than 2013 at 65. Drug arrests for 2014 totaled 35 on campus, one off campus and five on public property. Police made 136 arrests for liquor law violations on campus, 10 off campus and 28 on public property.

Five burglaries occurred on campus, a decrease from 17 in 2013. Two on-campus robberies were reported to police. 

Four oven fires and one electrical fire were reported in residence halls. These resulted in no injuries or deaths, but about $500 of damage. 

All numbers reflect incidents reported to police in 2014.
