ISO to participate in homecoming parade for the first time

The International Student Organization will participate in the Central Michigan University homecoming parade for the first time.

In the parade, students will represent their countries by either wearing traditional clothing or waving their country’s flag.

Kuwait graduate student Dalaa Alqahtani, who is vice president of ISO, said she doesn’t think anyone from the organization had thought of participating in the parade in the past. However, this year’s president pointed out that homecoming is a big deal in America and international students should participate by representing their countries.

“We thought, ‘what a cool idea it would be to represent all of the international students in the actual parade,’ because we are part of CMU,” said Alqahtani.

The CMU homecoming parade takes place Saturday, Oct. 3 at 11 a.m. and begins in Parking Lot 22.
