A woman driving east bound on Beal City Road this morning suffered facial injuries after striking a horse that was standing in the road.

Christina Parker, 18, was just east of Summerton Road when a horse who escaped from a nearby enclosure wandered in front of her car. The horse suffered critical injuries and had to be put down, said Sheriff Leo Mioduszewski from the Isabella County Sheriff's Department. The crash occurred at 6 a.m. on Nov. 17.

Parker suffered facial injuries during the crash, but was wearing a seatbelt. She was transported to McLaren Central Michigan by medical responders.
