CMU wrestling drops three spots in NCAA rankings

After splitting two home meets against Oregon State and Mid-American Conference rival No. 21 Ohio over the weekend, the Central Michigan wrestling team has fallen three spots to No. 19 in the NCAA rankings. 

CMU (5-1, 2-0 MAC) lost its first match of the season to OSU on Saturday 26-9. They rebounded to beat the Bobcats 16-15 on Sunday, to remain unbeaten in the MAC.

The Chippewas will face their biggest test of the season Sunday when they face the No. 4 Missouri Tigers in McGuirk Arena at 4 p.m. 

Senior Zach Horan moved up two sports in the 141-pound weight class rankings to No. 16. Senior Lucas Smith (149) fell two sports to No. 11. 

Senior Mike Ottinger (165) moved up two sports to No. 10 after defeating No. 9 Cody Walters of Ohio. Sophomore Colin Heffernan (149) remains at No. 10, despite not wrestling since the Reno Tournament of Champions Dec. 20 due to injury.
