Rapid Reaction: Central Michigan 76, Bowling Green 75

Central Michigan entered Saturday's game against Bowling Green at McGuirk Arena on a five-game winning streak, but the Falcons 59.3 percent shooting from 3-point range threatened them advancing to a sixth.

The CMU fourth-quarter comeback gave the Chippewas their 15th win of the season, 76-75 over BGSU.

The Comeback

The Chippewas rallied in the fourth quarter, outscoring Bowling Green 21-11 and taking their first lead of the game at one minute remaining in the fourth quarter, 74-72.

Three consecutive Falcon turnovers aided the comeback as the McGuirk Arena crowd contributed the decibels.

With seconds left on the clock, freshmen guard Presley Hudson drove left, beat her defender and laid it in as time expired, giving CMU the one-point lead with no time remaining.

Falcons Hoisting

Bowling Green shot 60 percent from 3-point range in the first half, making nine of its 15 attempts. Rachel Myers, Sydney Lambert and Miriam Justinger each knocked down three 3-pointers, giving them each nine points to end the first half.

They continued stroking the ball into the second half, at one point hitting 11 consecutive 3-pointers and shooting 68 percent from 3-point range.

The Falcons went on to finish the game shooting 59.3 percent from deep, 50.9 percent from the floor and 45.5 percent from the free-throw line.

Turnovers

CMU started the second quarter with four turnovers in nearly four minutes, which helped BGSU extend its lead to 33-20 with 4:21 left in the quarter. They ended the first half with 10 turnovers.

Appendix-less Breen

Sophomore shooter Cassandra Breen shot 5-6 from 3-point range in her first game without her appendix. Breen sat out against Eastern Michigan Wednesday because of the operation. She ended the first half with 12 points, shooting 3-of-4 from 3-point range and 4-of-5 from the field, including an and-one with 49 seconds remaining in the half. She finished with 15 points.

Slow Start

It took the Chippewas nearly five minutes to record their first points of the game. They shot 0-9 in the first five minutes of the first quarter, which ended with CMU down 17-11. They ended the quarter shooting 4-14.
