Peace Day celebration set for May 18

A Peace Day celebration is set for Wednesday, May 18, as a ceremonial flag will be raised in front of Warriner Hall.

The event, Organizing for Memory, Organizing for Peace: A Celebration of Peace Day, is slated to commemorate the Hague Peace Conference of 1899, which resulted in one of the original treaties addressing warfare conduct, and connect the story to Central Michigan University. Peace Day was celebrated by former CMU President Eugene Warriner, who raised a flag in the day's honor.

The Peace Education lecture begins at 3:30 p.m. in Powers Hall room 134. The flag raising ceremony is scheduled for 4:30.

A rain-out date is scheduled for May 20.
