Clio sophomore Mason Smith wins his match to move onto the semi-finals in the MAC Wrestling Championship on Mar. 3 in McGuirk Arena.

Former All-American wrestler Justin Oliver and NCAA qualifier Mason Smith have been granted release from the Central Michigan wrestling program.

Oliver has qualified for three straight NCAA Tournaments. Last season, he finished with a 25-5 record. He placed fourth in the MAC Championships in McGuirk Arena as the No. 2 seed. The junior rose to the starting lineup after Colin Heffernan went down with an injury two seasons ago.

Davison junior Justin Oliver wrestles Old Dominion’s Kenan Carter on Mar. 4 in McGuirk Arena.

Smith, a sophomore, is a two-time NCAA qualifier and was regarded as one of CMU head coach Tom Borrelli's strongest wrestlers in the 2017-18 season. He finished with a team-best 31-5 record last season.
