Central Michigan women's basketball senior guard Presley Hudson now tops the career scoring list for Central Michigan women's basketball.

Hudson broke the record with a long 2-pointer from the top of the key against Eastern Michigan in McGuirk Arena.

Crystal Bradford held the previous record, who scored 2,006 points for the Chippewas from 2011-15. Hudson now has 2,007 points at the end of the first quarter.

For her career, the Wayland native is averaging 17 points, 4.7 assists and 3.9 rebounds per game. Hudson has been known as a 'program-changer,' according to head coach Sue Guevara.

After the game, Guevara took to the public address system to both congratulate Hudson, and praise her teammates for helping her capture the record.

"It was an accomplishment that I wanted to do when I came into Central as a freshman," Hudson said. "It's nice to accomplish that."

Hudson's family was in attendance and she was thankful they were there to be able to see her break the record, but was not "too emotional" in the moment.

"I'm proud of Presley," senior forward Reyna Frost said.

Frost and Hudson played AAU together and knew each other before they enrolled at CMU. "Just to see her grow each year, she sees where she needs to improve year after year and just get in the gym and works on that stuff."

Hudson needed just five points in Saturday's Mid-American Conference matchup against Eastern Michigan to capture the record. She ended the game with 21 points on 53 percent shooting.

"Players come into college thinking they want to be MAC Freshman of the Year or have a rebounding record or a scoring record," Guevara said. "But the work that it takes to put in, that's the key. Both (Hudson and Frost) are workers. They have put in the time in the summer, they put in the time when no one is watching."

Hudson, now with 2023 career points, looks to widen her record even further with two months remaining in the regular season.
