The first four minutes looked good for Bowling Green. It held a lead over the Central Michigan women's basketball team that grew to as many as six in the first quarter.

The Falcons lead quickly evaporated as the Chippewas stormed a 10-2 run in just 95 seconds. CMU continued to dominate from that point on its way to a 92-54 win over Bowling Green at the Stroh Center in Bowling Green, Ohio.

CMU's win moves them to 19-6, 10-3 Mid-American Conference and knocks the Falcons down to 8-15, 1-11.

The Chippewa run continued for the rest of the first quarter as they capped off the first quarter with a 22-6 run.  CMU took a 31-17 lead after the first quarter. The run was capped off by a jumper from senior forward Reyna Frost.

Head coach Sue Guevara said much of team's success stemmed from scoring in transition. The Chippewas scored 16 points in that category.

"We talked in practice about getting the rebound and getting the outlet out and going," Guevara said. "I thought that we were faster than their players inside and we were able to attack on the wings."

Freshman forward Jahari Smith led CMU by scoring 10 points in the opening frame. Senior guard Presley Hudson scored six points as she knocked down a pair of triples in the first quarter.

The second quarter belonged to the Chippewas, after BGSU scored four points, CMU went on an extended 21-8 run for 8:34 of the second quarter. It put CMU ahead 52-29 as the teams hit the locker room for halftime.

CMU shot 56 percent from the floor in the first half. Frost had 13 points, Hudson had 12 and Smith had 10.

In the third quarter, Frost led the way for the Chippewas by scoring eight points. She chalked up her 21 points by the end of the third quarter and she ended the game with her 22nd double-double as she ended the contest with 20 rebounds. Hudson had six in the quarter as CMU carried a 76-43 lead into the final quarter.

That final quarter was more scoring from Hudson, Kelly and Smith. Hudson ended the contest with a game-high 24 points. Smith and Kelly both finished in double figures with 14 and 10 points, respectively. The Chippewas outscored the Falcons 16-11 in the fourth quarter to take the 38-point victory.

Much of CMU's scoring came off of turnovers , where they scored 30 points off of Falcon miscues. Guevara said turnovers and scoring 46 points in the paint were the reasons why her team was able to dominate.

"We were able to get a fair amount of deflections and steals," Guevara said. "We were able to get the ball inside."

CMU's win was their largest margin of victory since their 104-61 win at home over Oakland Nov. 8, their season opener.

The Chippewas move two and a half games ahead of Northern Illinois in the MAC West Division with their win, the two square off at 1 p.m. Feb. 23 in McGuirk Arena.
