The Zuzu Acrobats will perform an hour-long acrobatic routine at Central Michigan University at 8 p.m. Feb. 25 in Plachta Auditorium.

Having previously been featured on "America's Got Talent," Zuzu Acrobats is a performance group that originated in Mombassa, Kenya and performs a blend of acrobatics and popular dance moves to live and taped African music.

The Zuzu Acrobats performance is free and open to the entire CMU and Mount Pleasant community. The event is sponsored by the Multicultural Academic Student Services.

"This is the final event to this year’s Black History Month Celebration," said Wade Tomson, Multicultural Academic Student Services executive secretary.

Tomson said the purpose of the event is for students to learn more about the culture and have fun.

"We started thinking about bringing the Zuzu team early in the fall semester," Tomson said. "They emailed us a promotional email with a video of their performances."

Tomson said the group was ultimately chosen because it looked like a fun performance and CMU hasn't had an event like it in a few years.

"This will be a fun and entertaining event the week before Spring Break," Tomson said, "so hopefully students will take an hour to relax and enjoy the study break."
