Geography and environmental studies faculty member Anthony Feig is running for Congress.

In a press release July 9, the Democrat announced his plan to run against John Moolenaar to represent Michigan's 4th District in the U.S. House of Representatives.

There will be an official campaign kickoff at 5:30 p.m. Monday, July 15 at Hunter's Ale House, located at 4855 E. Bluegrass Rd. He will give a speech at 6:30 p.m. and hold a Q&A after.

Feig has lived in Mount Pleasant for 11 years. Along with being a faculty member at CMU, Feig recently served as president for the Central Michigan University Faculty Association Union.

He believes his background as a scientist, educator and union president will bring a fresh perspective and insight to issues in the 4th District.

"Here in Mid-Michigan we've got good land and good people," he said.  "And with good government, everyone has a shot at the American Dream."
