In celebration of CM Life's upcoming 100 Year Anniversary, we asked alumna Angela Carollo to reflect on her time at CM Life and how it helped her get prepared for the job she has today.

Q: What year did you begin working at CM Life?

A: Summer of 2014.

Q: How long were you here?

A: Until I graduated in May 2017.

Q: What position did you work in?

A: I started as an ad manager and moved up to the Business Development Manager position the following year.

Q: What are some of the highlights or favorite memories while working for CM Life?

A: There's too many to list. Hoops was always my favorite time of year because we had so much fun coming up with creative ways to get more spirit points, and we always went too far with it. We still have the best video though, but who else would make jerseys, a flag, and buy a basketball piñata? I loved that we had our own breakfast club and every morning.

We'd all walk to Einstein's together to get bagels and coffee. I loved Kathy and my Redbull refrigerator that was both a blessing and a curse. I loved all of the sales games we'd play, the themes each year, and CMBAM of course! I loved our special editions like the Pink Paper and Star Wars. I loved all of our inside jokes that I could list here but most people would just think we're weird, and we are, I'm okay with that. I loved that every day I got to work with my best friends, and I would still spend time with them afterwards. Some of those people even became my roommates. I still talk to them regularly because they became such an important part of my life. It's crazy to think that your college "job" becomes your lifestyle, and it changes you monumentally in the best way possible.

Q: How did your experience at CM Life influence your career?

A: Pretty much everything I did at CM Life, I get to do at my new job. CM Life was the perfect transition for me because it allowed me to apply what I was learning in class so I could get the experience I needed to get hired. I was much more confident because of my experience. And the craziest part is I keep running into my old colleagues because we all work in the same industry! It's amazing!

Q: Do you still keep up with CM Life regularly?

A: More than any other publication! I love seeing CM Life grow, the CMU community change, and watch all of my peers move into their careers. It's awesome!

Q: Where do you work now?

A: Interact Communications. It's a full-service marketing firm that works with community colleges exclusively.

The 100 Year Anniversary celebration will be at Soaring Eagle Casino and Conference Center on Nov. 16 at 5 p.m. Click here to purchase tickets. They must be purchased by Nov. 13 at 4 p.m. in order to attend.
