Leaf collections scheduled for next week will be postponed until spring of 2020 due to winter conditions.

The original scheduled collections would have been from Nov. 25 to Nov. 27. Now, the City of Mount Pleasant will be picking leaves some point in the spring on date to be announced later, according to a city press release.

Director of Public Works John Zang said residents should not put leaves on the streets because any leaves left out on the street in the snow will be pushed back onto lawns from snow plows. He said residents can bring their leaves to the Isabella County Material Recovery Facility, but there is a fee for doing so.

Zang said the city tries to schedule leaf pickup dates late enough that leaves are falling, but before the first snowfall. However, snow came earlier than expected, which caused the delay.
