Michael Oliver has won the Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Week honor in Week 14.

Oliver, a senior linebacker for Central Michigan from Detroit, had a team-high eight tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss in the Chippewas 49-7 win over Toledo in Kelly/Shorts Stadium.

CMU's defense, led by Oliver, held the Rocket's defense to 256 yards of total offense and just seven points as part of one of the top defenses in the conference.

On top of the strong overall performance, the defense held Toledo to just 83 rushing yards, 160 yards below the Rocket's average.

This marks the second time Oliver has won the award this season.

After defeating Toledo, Central Michigan (8-4, 6-2) won the MAC West Division and earned a berth into the MAC championship game. The Chippewas will face Miami (Ohio) at noon Saturday at Ford Field in Detroit.
