The Department of World Languages and Cultures is putting on Striken mit den Deutschprofs, which is German for Knitting with the German Professors, scheduled from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday Feb. 28, in Pearce Hall, Room 307.

German professors Dr. Daniela Richter and Janet Lein will facilitate the knitting party.

Dr. Richter said she is excited she can share one of her hobbies with students to build a connection.

"I thought it would be a cool thing to share a hobby I enjoy," Richter said. "It just makes for a good connection with the students. I always enjoyed learning something new."

Participants will learn the basics of knitting and crocheting. In addition, they will be shown traditional knitting patterns from Germany and around Europe. Participants are invited to bring their own needlework projects.

The event is open to anyone who would like to attend. No German skills are necessary to participate. For more information regarding the event, email Daniela Richter at richt2dm@cmich.edu.
