CRIME LOG: City police make two OWI arrests

The following incidents were among those handled by the Mount Pleasant Police Department and Central Michigan University Police Department from Sept. 29 to Oct. 4

Sept. 29

MPPD officers were dispatched at around 12:30 p.m. to Meijer responding to reports of a 31-year-old woman from Clare taking items from the store. Upon arrival, officers discovered the woman in a truck in the parking lot. She eventually admitted to stealing, intending to return them for the money to buy food. The retail fraud complaint was forwarded to the prosecutor's office for review.

A 19-year-old woman reported her bike stolen to CMUPD outside of the music building on campus. She had last seen it on Sept. 17 and noticed it was missing on Sept. 19, but only reported it 10 days later. She suspects that her bike lock was cut.

Sept. 30

City police responded to a 911 hang-up call at about 7 p.m. after hearing people arguing in the background. Officers determined a husband and wife were fighting upon arrival at the 100 Blk. of Walnut St. There were no major injuries and no arrests were made. The couple was separated for the evening while the complaint is forwarded to the prosecutor's office for review.

Oct. 1

A report of 4th-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a minor is under investigation. This investigation is still open.

Oct. 2

Officers pulled over a 24-year-old woman from Remus for speeding 10 miles over the limit. The driver had glassy eyes, delayed reactions and slurred speech and admitted to drinking alcohol. While she passed sobriety tests, her preliminary breath test results showed .11 blood alcohol content. She was arrested and lodged at Isabella County Jail.

Oct. 3

Officers were dispatched to Bellows Street to respond to an altercation between a 17-year-old boy and his mother's 27-year-old boyfriend at about 3 p.m. The boyfriend reportedly put the boy in a headlock and tackled him into a door. The boyfriend stopped after the boy's mom said she had called the police. The boyfriend was arrested for domestic violence.

Oct. 4

City Police responded to a crash at about 2:30 a.m. in the Yorkshire Commons apartment complex. A 25-year old Mount Pleasant woman had reportedly crashed into a carport. Officers made contact with the female driver who said she came from the Cabin Bar. The officer reported they could smell intoxicants on her breath through her face mask. Her PBT results showed a .20 blood alcohol content. She was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
