SGA considers what days to place the wellness days for the spring semester over Webex on Oct. 5, 2020.

Central Michigan University's Student Government Association voted on options for wellness days during the spring semester during its Oct. 5 meeting.

SGA President Katie Prebelich introduced a vote to the student body on whether to have wellness days on two Fridays (option A) or just one Friday (option B). Prebelich said that the days off would be treated like a standard university day-off, meaning professors cannot assign work to be due on those dates.

Students in attendance brought up how most students don't have Friday classes, making option A redundant to them.

"I feel like most students don't have classes on Friday anyway, so having (two Fridays off) doesn't do much," Senior Chloe Ilacqua said.

Between the two options, 73 percent of students who attended the General Board meeting chose option B.

In the Sustainability Committee, representatives discussed legislation that would add electric scooters to campus. They also planned a meeting with the Mount Pleasant mayor Will Joseph to include them downtown.

Kalli Walz, Sustainability Committee chair, said it would bring more jobs to students. She said that she's unsure if it could happen due to the university's ban on motorized vehicles like Segways and hoverboards.

There was no new or old business in the House or Senate.
