MAC WBB awards roundup: Two Chippewas make first team All-MAC

Two Central Michigan women's basketball players were named to the All-Mid-American Conference First Team, the conference announced Tuesday. 

Senior guard Micaela Kelly and sophomore guard Molly Davis received the honors, with Kelly also claiming a position on the All-MAC Defensive Team. 

Kelly was unable to repeat as MAC Player of the Year, with the honor going to Ohio's Cece Hooks. On the season, Kelly averaged 23.3 points per game, which ranked third in the conference. She also ranked fifth in the conference in assists with 4.0 per game and surpassed the 2,000-point mark against Toledo late in the season. 

Davis was a second team All-MAC choice last season, working her way up the ladder as a first team selection this year. She ranked sixth in the conference in scoring average with 20.2 points per game. She shot 50 percent from the field, which ranked third in the MAC, and ranked seventh in 3-point percentage with her percentage of 39.9. 

Joining Davis and Kelly on the first team were Hooks, Ball State's Oshlynn Brown and Buffalo's Dyaisha Fair. Kelly was accompanied on the All-Defensive team by Hooks, Fair, Bowling Green's Nyla Hampton, Eastern Michigan's Areanna Combs and Kent State's Lyndsey Thall.
