On Nov.10, Michigan State Representative Roger Hauck announced he is running for State Senate.

According to a press release from Hauck's office, he is running for the proposed Mid-Michigan seat. This seat includes Clare, Gladwin, Gratiot, Isabella, Mecosta, Osceola, as well as portions of Bay, Clinton, Lake, Midland, and Saginaw counties.

“While I’m proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish, it’s clear there’s still more work to be done," Hauck said in the press release. "The COVID-19 pandemic has devastated our communities and now more than ever we need effective leaders who know how to get things done.”

Hauck was elected State Representative for the 99th district in 2016. During his time in office, he has focused on helping Mid-Michigan families, according to the press release.

“I was born and raised in Mid-Michigan and I’ve lived here my entire life," Hauck said in the press release. "I know what it’s like to struggle to make ends meet, so during my time in office I’ve tried to tackle issues that can really make a difference in people’s lives by lowering taxes, removing unnecessary regulation, and providing more opportunities to pursue skilled trades."

Before being a member of the House, Hauck worked in a factory for 24 years and was a Union Township Trustee. He is also a member of the National Rifle Association, Michigan Farm Bureau and Sacred Heart Parish in Mount Pleasant.
