It was a quiet day for Central Michigan’s track and field team, as it finished with just one top five performance Saturday at the Michigan invitational.

Though the performance yielded little in terms of victories, the team made many improvements.

Freshman Jericha Petrella finished in fifth place in the women’s 400-meter dash with a time of 57.76 seconds. This topped her previous best time, when she ran at the Grand Valley State Holiday Open. Petrella was one of two freshmen to finish in the top five.

Another bright spot came in women’s high jump as freshman Grace Williamson and sophomore Alyssa Vandegriff finished in a five-way tie for sixth place.

In the women’s 800-meter run, CMU had three top-10 finishes. Junior Madi Mandelke finished in seventh place, Alexa Davis finished in eighth place and Alexis Gourrier finished in ninth place.

Davis crushed her previous best time recorded at the Central Michigan Invitational. Mandelke was 0.06 seconds away from beating her previous best time recorded at the same meet.

Central Michigan looks to get back on track when they head back home to host the Central Michigan Jack Skoog Invitational Jan. 29.
